Silver Care
All silver products tarnishes overtime. It undergoes a chemical reaction with sulphur-containing substances found readily in the air. The silver combines with the sulphur to form silver sulphide that darkens your silver jewellery. However, silver can become sparkling again by removing the silver sulphide coating from the surface of the jewellery piece. Silver tarnishes faster in areas with high humidity and air pollution. Chemicals like hairspray, perfume, deodorant, body lotion, bleach, etc., can speed up the tarnishing process. It can begin to turn black in just a few days or even take many months or years.
Tips To Minimise Tarnish
WEAR your silver. Silver usually will not tarnish when worn, since it is constantly being rubbed on your skin or clothes.
AVOID direct contact from Sweat, Lotion, Perfumes and household Chemicals.
STORE your Silver in a Ziplock plastic bag with an anti-tarnish strip/tab when not in use. This will minimize the exposure to moisture and sulphur in the air. Anti-tarnish tabs are available to purchase from our website.
PLACE an anti-tarnish strip or tab in the place where you keep your jewellery. One strip lasts about six months.
RUB silver areas that show tarnish with a silver polishing cloth. These cloths are impregnated with polishing compounds and anti-tarnish agents to remove light tarnish and protect against future tarnishing quickly.
DIP clean is a great way to remove more substantial tarnish. Use Silver polishing cloth to polish after tarnish is removed. Be careful to not get solution on other jewellery parts, especially pearls, as this dip will remove the natural lustre of pearls and dull them.
FOAMING PASTE cleans and gently polishes Silverwares, renews the shine and the original brightness.
